The sound film Klangwelt Kreis Steinfurt is presented on the website and showcases the 24 audiovisual interconnections of the participating municipalities. The site-specific soundscapes developed for each location come together as audiovisual interfaces of perception, opening up new perspectives on the acoustic identity of the district of Steinfurt.

The film premiere of Klangwelt Kreis Steinfurt presents, for the first time, the 24 audiovisual interconnections of the participating municipalities. The works condense the previously developed site-specific soundscapes into cinematic interfaces of perception, opening up new perspectives on the acoustic identity of the district of Steinfurt.

OCHTRUPER NACHTIGALL

ST. MARIEN-KIRCHE


Together with Ochtrup Stadtmarketing und Tourismus GmbH, the music school, the Pottery Museum and the Parish of St Lambertus Ochtrup, we invited participants to visit St Mary’s Church to make music together and explore the playing techniques of the “Ochtrup Nightingale”. 

During these sessions, the instrument’s wide range of sonic possibilities was recorded, spatial compositions were tested, and the individual sound world of each unique piece was made audible. From these sounds, a singular sound work emerges – an entirely new acoustic world centred on this special instrument. 

For this sonic journey of discovery with the vessel flute, a special “Klangwelt” edition of Ochtrup Nightingales was produced. An Ochtrup Nightingale from this series can be reordered from the Pottery Museum in Ochtrup.

GRAVENHORTSTER POPCORN
19 & 21 September 2025 

DA, Kunsthaus

Together with Gravenhorster Popcorn and the DA, Kunsthaus Kloster Gravenhorst, we invited visitors, as part of an exhibition, to immerse themselves in the acoustic world of popcorn. 

In the vaulted space of the DA, Kunsthaus, acoustic popcorn was “served” in a site-specific sound installation in the former monastery kitchen. From kernel to preparation, visitors could be enveloped by the acoustic traces of popcorn and experience everyday processes from entirely new sensory perspectives. 

The sonic journey of discovery was complemented by a short film in Project Room 2, offering a preview of the final film for the project.

EISSCHMELZE ALTENBERGE
13 September 2025

Eiskeller Altenberge

Together with the municipality of Altenberge and the Altenberge Ice Cellar, we invited visitors, as part of an exhibition, to explore the extensive, underground, and historic cellar complexes. 

In a site-specific sound installation, the artist engaged with traces of the past – acoustically melting the ice that was once stored in the former brewery to keep beer consistently cool. 

Speakers were discreetly placed throughout the three-storey ice cellar. The interplay of proximity and distance, space and density, and the spatial movements of the sound composition opened up new listening spaces – making the familiar seem strange and the everyday appear anew. 

This sonic journey of discovery was complemented by guided tours of the ice cellar.
